Antique mirror with a wooden and gilded stucco frame, in the Napoléon III style or late 19th century. It is a classic piece of French decoration, often referred to as a fireplace mirror or trumeau depending on its arrangement. The frame consists of a solid wood structure visible at the back, onto which stucco (a mixture of plaster, glue, and filler) has been applied to create the relief ornaments. It is adorned with a frieze of laurel leaves on the outer border, a central frieze of floral motifs (small stylised flowers), and an inner border of beads. The back panel is covered with an old protective paper featuring geometric patterns, which is typical of frames from the late 19th or early 20th century. Ideal for shabby chic decoration. Length 62/49, width 51/38.
