The original spinning roulette from the 1940s. Sohne ashtray erhard & sohne gained worldwide fame with the invention of the schleuderaschers (spinning ashtray), roulette type. This is a family item that was probably purchased in germany in the 1950s. The ashtray is chrome-plated in the spin/roulette part, the container and the button are made of bakelite. At the top there is a black bakelite handle that you press to make the ashtray rotate. It is fully functional. There are two recesses on the bridge for a cigarette or cigar. Underneath, there is an embossed inscription "original roullette ashtray" and the company logo in the form of a stylized lion standing on the letter e. Dimensions: Height 9 cm|diameter 9 cm. Very good condition, the ashtray is fully functional and without any damage. Erhard & sohne was founded by carl gottlieb erhard and his two sons in schwabisch gmund in 1844. The invention of schleuderaschers (spinning ashtrays) is credited with the invention in 1938. When you press a button, the disc rotates so that the ash flows into the container. Underneath, the inscription "erhard & söhne ag. Schwębisch gmund / drp / made in germany" and the company logo in the form of a stylized lion standing on the letter e.
