Rosanna Toso, a distinguished member of the Toso family, played a central role in the rich history of the island of Murano, where the famous Barovier Toso company was one of the pioneers. Along with her brothers, she dedicated her expertise to another esteemed family business, "Fratelli Toso" (1854-1983), where she served as director from the mid-1970s until the company's dissolution in 1983. After this period, Rosanna turned to lighting design, applying her talent to the prestigious Leucos. One of her most acclaimed creations is the captivating "Idra" series from 1982, available in various sizes and colours, enhancing interiors as table lamps and wall sconces. The artistic technique used in these masterpieces is known as Sommerso. This method layers different sheets of glass to achieve both thickness and a fascinating illusion of depth in the glass. Within these layers, finely placed murrines add an artistic touch, creating the visual illusion of a cascade flowing harmoniously from the top to the base of the globe.
