Decorative plate jester signed Emile Tessier

Earthenware plate from Malicorne, signed TE for Emile Tessier. This ceramicist founded his factory in 1924, one of the most prosperous earthenware manufacturers in the West of France. It is an art pottery where Emile Tessier draws his inspiration from the traditions of the great vanished ceramic regions, such as Rouen, Strasbourg, etc. He adds a touch of originality to these ancient designs. Here, he depicts a jester, wearing a cap and dressed in a short yellow tunic with scalloped edges. The character is hunched like a hunchback. The plate is in perfect condition.
