A pair of Art Deco style bookends representing two stylised koi carp in patinated bronze, resting on bases of veined black marble of the Portor type. The contrast between the black marble with golden veins and the warm patina of the metal creates a very elegant decorative ensemble, characteristic of mid-20th century office decor. The fish, with expressive and dynamic lines, provide a sculptural presence while remaining understated and decorative. The geometric marble blocks evoke the modernist aesthetic inherited from Art Deco. Ideal pieces for a library, office, or console. Overall good condition with a patina consistent with age. Remnant of the original label under the base. Sold as a pair. Dimensions (per piece): • Height: 11 cm. • Length: 13 cm. • Depth: 7.5 cm. Why we love it: the nobility of the veined black marble combined with the softness of the bronze patina, in a sculptural composition of modernist and timeless elegance.
