Water butter dish Saint-Uze Revol, ivy decoration, model no. 312 (before 1911)

Water butter dish in stoneware, Manufacture Revol in Saint-Uze (Drôme). This model corresponds to the butter keeper no. 312, as referenced in household item catalogs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Made of fine stoneware, referred to at the time as "steel clay" for its robustness, it features a soft and luminous café au lait colour. The decoration, very understated, consists of a frieze of ivy printed in black-brown, accompanied by a stylised bird in the centre of the lid. Stamped Saint Uze: the monogram GR partially erased (Louis Gustave Revol), the turned relief rings, the marked base, and the 4 sets of 4 aligned holes for the butter section allow for recognition of a production from Manufacture Revol (prior to 1911, the date of the change in management and continuation of activity by the Bourgogne family). In excellent vintage condition, with a patina of time under the base and under the butter section, the glazing of the stoneware is still very shiny (see photos). Water section: height 9 cm, diameter 12 cm. Butter section: height 7 cm (10 cm with the lid), diameter 10 cm. Total height of the butter dish 12 cm. A utilitarian piece that has become a style icon, perfect for adding a touch of heritage kitchen to contemporary interiors.
