Landscape painting

Old watercolor signed by the painter Gustave de Launay (1864-1929). The artist devoted most of his work to painting Brittany, but this landscape seems to come straight out of a Jack London novel. With this vaporous background and the solitary fisherman, we are caught up in a moment of calm and renewal as Henry David Thoreau could have invited us: "A poet would be he who could enlist winds and rivers at his service, so that they speak for him..." As if to illustrate the painter's work on this landscape. The work is framed under glass, in a beautiful black and gold wooden frame. It has many foxing spots. It measures with the frame 72 cm high X 93 cm wide.
