Majestic solid walnut wardrobe. Stamped work, late 19th century.

This cabinet is a high-end piece from the late 19th century, stamped SK three times on the back, made of solid walnut, assembled with eight lag screws, and of exceptional quality in every respect. In the Louis XVI style, it is traditionally constructed and can be completely disassembled. It opens with three doors. The two smaller, or side, doors flank the main one, which features a large, period beveled mirror in perfect condition. Thanks to its fully functional key, lock, and keyhole, it opens to reveal four oak shelves mounted on adjustable racks. At the bottom, serving as the back panel, is a built-in drawer that opens with a small bronze pull handle. Note the beautiful wood paneling that protects the mirror inside the door. On the sides, the doors, adorned with elegant plant carvings and a magnificent patina, also open (with their original key and lock) to reveal four oak shelves on adjustable supports, as well as a built-in drawer. Each drawer is lockable and has its own key. This creates ample storage and visually appealing spaces. Inside each door, there is another original mirror, in excellent condition, held to the frame by screwed brass brackets. A perfect vantage point for viewing oneself from various angles. The SK stamp does not, to my knowledge, refer to any identified cabinetmaker, but it attests to the quality of the wood (this patina is sumptuous), the attention to detail, and the craftsmanship. The basket that adorns the pediment is both discreet and majestic, echoing the small floral arrangement on the lower plinth. As for the rounded shape of the upper section, which required significant adjustments to each part, it gives this wardrobe its charm by lightening its overall appearance. Height: 214 cm.
