Christian Adam Space Age Bedside Table, 1970s

Christian Adam has created a piece that is clearly ahead of its time, a small domestic UFO straight out of a 1970s space opera. Imagine it in an orbital capsule, or better yet: in the bedroom of a visionary architect in West Berlin in 1974. Its white, clover-shaped base, all roundness and symmetry, evokes both a lunar base and the pedestal of a modernist sculpture. It anchors the room gently but confidently. The intense, textured, rosewood-style vinyl covering of the top contrasts sharply with the plastic shell. Even its chrome-plated metal handle is designer. Nothing is left to chance. This bedside table has Kubrick, Starck before his time, design that dares and assumes. The bedside table, which can perfectly serve as a side table, is in good condition. It shows signs of use consistent with its age on the top, which do not detract from its overall appearance. The clover base is a little yellowed in places. Height: 39 cm. Length: 55 cm.
