Beautiful glazed ceramic set signed Denbac, comprising two matching ashtrays. The two pieces showcase remarkable glazing work in deep shades of moss green, petrol blue, sandy beige, and nuanced brown, with drips and crystallisation effects that are very characteristic of Denbac productions. The stylised plant reliefs and deliberately free contours give the whole a very organic, almost mineral presence. The decoration changes with the light, alternating between satin surfaces, matte areas, and denser highlights around the bluish glazes. Signed Denbac, a factory founded in the early 20th century in Vierzon, known for its Art Deco ceramics with experimental glazes and simple forms inspired by nature. In beautiful vintage condition, with some firing irregularities and original glaze variations that fully contribute to the artisanal charm of the set (see photos). Tray 20.5 cm X 16 cm, rectangular ashtray 10 cm long, 3.5 cm wide, 5 cm high. A sculptural duo in muted, botanical tones.
