Portrait young man oil on canvas xix signed louis joseph digout 1882

Portrait of a young man with a mustache of the late nineteenth century, presented in a gilded stucco wood frame with oval view. It is signed by the artist louis joseph digout (1821-?), painter of portraits, listed on page 585 of volume 4 of the last edition of the reference work bénézit of which here is an excerpt: " digout louis joseph: born on july 20, 1821 in bourges ( cher ). Portrait painter. In 1841 he entered the school of fine arts and was a pupil of r. Cazes. The same year, he exhibited at the paris motor show: an attic. He exhibited until 1868. " I report a small lack of paint in the lower part, as well as the presence of small scattered spots. A cleaning of the canvas is therefore to be expected.
