Elephant Eames 75th anniversary - Vitra

The special series is limited to 999 pieces, each of which bears a numbered label. In 1945, charles and ray eames created a plywood toy elephant. However, this piece was never mass-produced. One of the prototypes was exhibited at the museum of modern art in new york in 1946 and still exists today in the eames family archives. After a limited edition in 2007, vitra has now launched series production of the wooden eames elephant for the first time in 2018. Today, in 2020, the plywood chair celebrates its 75th anniversary. To pay tribute to this anniversary, vitra is launching a special grey-stained wooden series of this delicately lined collector's item, which is even more akin to its living counterparts.
