Model R401 Chairs by Shiro Kuramata for Pastoe. Set of 2

A set of rare R401 chairs by the Japanese designer Shiro Kuramata. The design of these chairs reflects Kuramata's interest in transparancy and weightlessness.A very striking example of early 1980s Postmodern Japanese design. By 1985 Pastoe ceased production of all Kuramata designs because of financial restraints. Therefore these chairs were manufactured in very limited numbers. Some superficial marks to the paint on the legs, Some old breaks and re-gluing of the rubber armrests.
