Blackened wood, metal and bone mirror by Anthony Redmile – London, 1970

Magnificent and rare wall mirror signed Redmile, the famous British designer known for his eccentric and sophisticated creations that blend natural materials, metal, and wood. This spectacular piece features an elongated octagonal shape, highlighted by a structure in blackened wood, a surround made of natural bone plaques, and a wide outer frame in silvered metal. The bone plaques, all slightly different from one another, bring a superb richness of texture and an almost sculptural quality to the whole. The contrast between the deep black of the wood, the natural ivory tones of the bone, and the silvered metal is particularly elegant. The mirror is signed "redmile London" on its brass hanging system. A piece that is very representative of the work of Anthony Redmile, a major London designer in the British decorative scene of the 1960s-1970s, famous for his use of unusual materials such as bone, horn, shells, precious woods, ostrich eggs, and stones.
