Painted wooden fireplace mantel with faux marble effect.

Faux Real: A French fireplace painted in marbled green We’re going to let you in on a little secret: not all fireplaces are born to burn. Some, like this charming 19th-century French piece, were designed solely for show. Painted with soft olive green "marble" swirls and chestnut red accents, it’s a wooden mantel with all the elegance and none of the soot. No fireplace? No problem If your home lacks a fireplace (how dare it), this beauty is your shortcut to architectural presence. Just place it against a wall, add candles, books, or a piece of modern art, and voilà — instant ambiance. These "faux" mantels were often used in rooms that wanted grandeur without the drawbacks — bedrooms, living rooms, or even boutique interiors. Today, they are perfect for bringing structure and soul to an otherwise too tame space. Structurally solid and proudly standing, this faux mantel has aged gracefully. The original green marbled paint is beautifully patinated — worn in all the right places. Fully treated against woodworms, of course — because charm is nice, but pests are not invited. A clever little detail: a small notch has been cut at the base of the mantel so it easily slides over your baseboard. Easy peasy!
