Magnificent chair with remarkable design and details. Notably, the seat and backrest feature a polka dot pattern, an uncommon motif. In good condition, the wood is intact. It shows only slight signs of normal wear. See all the photos. Jacob & Josef Kohn, also known as J. & J. Kohn, were Austrian cabinetmakers and interior decorators based in Vienna. Jacob Kohn (1791-1866) and his son Josef Kohn (1814-1884) founded the company in 1849. Kohn later became one of the largest furniture manufacturers in Austria-Hungary and a significant competitor to Gebrüder Thonet. Kohn collaborated with artists from the Wiener Werkstätte and Josef Hoffmann in designing many pieces. In 1914, Kohn merged with Mundus, which in turn merged with Gebrüder Thonet in 1921 to form the world's first furniture manufacturer.
