Japanese four-leaf screen in red lacquer

Screen consisting of 4 leaves, in dark red lacquered paint, decorated with gold highlights in light relief representing mountains and hills. In the background, hand painted, many pagodas, rivers, trees and shrubs and scenes of everyday life. All the leaves are richly decorated, in the center as well as on the perimeter. At the back, the screen is black, with hand-painted gold patterns in two different shades, yellow gold and pale gold. Grouped by 2 with hinges, it is possible to solidarize them all 4 to make a single screen using two vertical pins that fit together a bit like the hinges of a door, certainly the original fixing system. The feet are encircled with metal. A few rare splinters on the edges. 4 sheets of 183 X 45.5 cm. Folded thickness: 10.5 cm. Thickness for one sheet: 2.4 cm. 28 kg approx.
