Louis XV French bedside tables with floral marquetry, 1940s, set of 2

A pair of French bedside tables in the Louis XV style, made around the middle of the 20th century. They closely follow the 18th-century originals with curved lines, good proportions, and careful veneer work. The rectangular tops feature floral marquetry as the main decorative element, while the rest of the design is kept simple. The veneer has a warm colour and attractive grain, and the original brass mounts follow the outline of the cases. The tables stand on slim cabriole legs, giving them a light appearance despite having three drawers each. Their compact size makes them ideal as bedside tables, but they can also serve as side tables in a living room or hallway. This is a matching pair, both in the same condition.
