Rare Majolica Strawberry Basket - Sarreguemines 1521 - Circa 1880

Authentic strawberry basket in majolica (barbotine) from the prestigious pottery of Sarreguemines, dating from the late 19th century (Napoleon III period / circa 1880). Period model: Reference 1521 stamped in relief under the base with the linear mark "SARREGUEMINES". Trompe-l'œil decoration imitating woven brown wicker and a bright turquoise blue interior. The removable lid is adorned with large green leaves in relief topped with a strawberry bud. Functional interior: includes a large compartment for fruits and two inner compartments under the lid (historically dedicated to sugar and cream). Condition: beautiful freshness of colours and turquoise glaze, very nice original weaving. Notable: a significant chip is present on the edge of a green leaf on the lid (see dedicated photo). The rest of the piece (handle, main basket, other reliefs) is in very good condition, without cracks or other restoration. A high-quality collector's item, ideal for enthusiasts of period barbotines or for a superb charming table decoration.
