19th antique satsuma cobalt blue vase - porcelain - geisha - japan - ca. (meiji period) This cobalt blue satsuma hand-painted vase from the meiji period painted in polychrome and gilt with two large panels with groups of geisha girls in elaborate clothing, outdoor scenes of water and mountains with flowering trees and blooming flowers. Surrounding the scenes is a beautiful cobalt blue border embellished with gold patterns. Shimazu family crest on base. Date: meiji period, around 1890-1900. Dimensions: height 31.5cm / 12.4in. Diameter 15 cm / 6 in. Condition: good antique condition, no chips, damage or repairs.
