About A.R.P (Atelier de Recherche Plastique) Atelier de recherche plastique (1954 - 1957) ARP is a short-lived association of three creators (Michel Mortier, Joseph-André Motte, and Pierre Guariche) aimed at offering French manufacturers innovative furniture in terms of both technique and style. ARP was established in October 1954. The creations were distributed in Charles Minvielle stores. In 1955, the group won awards at the SAM series furniture competition. While the overall aesthetic is homogeneous, each creator remains identifiable. The chairs presented are published by Steiner, notably the Tonneau chair designed by Guariche and the Corb armchair by Motte; the furniture, including the famous storage elements designed based on a prototype by Mortier, is manufactured by Minvielle; the luminous coffee table is published by Disderot, and the Radar armchair by Airborne, both based on models by Joseph-André Motte.
