Large and beautiful mirror beveled on the top and bottom and decorated with arabesques on each side. On the back, a label mentions "copper silvering": chemical silvering was invented in 1835 by the chemist justus von liebig. But since the silver surface tended to oxidize relatively quickly, it was customary to protect it with a thin layer of copper. If some pieces of silver are gone today, this mirror remains an elegant and refined piece, certainly vintage, but very modern by its design. A safe choice! Miroir aux arabesques, circa 1940/1950. Dimensions: 60 X 40.5 cm. Defects to note: some silvering gaps and small shine at the bottom right.
