Set of two ceramic vases by Greta Runeborg for Ekeby, Scandinavian Modern

A set of two vases, featuring a warm organic structure. Signed Ekeby, designed by Greta Runeborg, Sweden, mid-1900s. Minor signs of wear, a small dent/loss of colour on one vase. Greta Runeborg-Tell (1911-1989), Swedish artist. She studied at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. She began working for the Ekenäs glassworks in Småland as a designer, and shortly thereafter became the artistic director of the factory, from 1942 to 1952. She was a stylist at Steninge Lervarufabrik from 1934 to 1935, at S: t Eriks Lervarufabriker in Uppsala from 1935 to 1937, and at Upsala Ekeby from 1937 to 1941. She then had her own studio. She participated in glass art exhibitions at the Glass Museum in Växjö and the National Museum in Stockholm. Among her public works is a standalone sculpture in Ljungby. Runeborg-Tell is represented at the National Museum in Stockholm.
