Magnificent and rare solid hand-carved mahogany base Napoleon III armchair or reading chair. Its front legs and armrests are curved and have volutes bringing a certain elegance. High backrest with on top hand carved grapes and leaves decoration. Re-upholstered in the recent past with a quality green velvet fabric, also the webbing straps and springs has been replaced in the recent past so the seat is very comfortable. These kind of unusual cabriolet armchairs entered the interiors of upper class houses especially popular in the Napoleon III style in France and the Biedermeier styles in Germany. Seatheight 43 cm.
