Black Forest vestibule chair in carved wood, 19th century

We are delighted to offer for sale this absolutely stunning Black Forest Oak hall chair, finely hand-carved with turned bobbin legs and a large falcon on the backrest, dating from the early 19th century. One of the most beautiful chairs I have ever seen, the carving has clearly been done by a master craftsman, deeply engraved into the solid wood which exhibits exceptional grain and patina. The chair bears remnants of a paper label at the base, partially legible with mentions of Court Road (presumably Tottenham Court Road, London) and 8 Farringdon Road MM8. In terms of condition, we have deeply cleaned, waxed, and hand-polished it; the wood shows a lovely aged patina, with no notable damage or issues. Dimensions: Height 99.75 cm, Width 41.5 cm, Depth 47 cm (all measurements taken at the widest point). Please refer to the very detailed photos which are an integral part of the condition description. Please note that vintage and original period items like leather seats always exhibit a natural patina with cracks, creases, and wear; it is recommended to regularly apply wax to prevent moisture loss. Hand-dyed leather is not recommended for prolonged exposure to direct sunlight as it dries out and discolours.
