Bookshelf Donau by Ettore Sottsass & Marco Zanini for Franz Leitner, 1980s

Very rare bookshelf or cabinet from the "Donau" furniture series designed in 1986 by Ettore Sottsass and Marco Zanini for the Austrian furniture maker Leitner Interiors Design. Burl wood veneer construction with some wooden details lacquered in blue and black colour. Condition: The cabinet is in good condition, with minor signs of wear that are mostly located in discreet areas and are difficult to notice. At the bottom of the back panel, there is a drilled hole for electrical cables made by the previous owner. There is also an additional drilled hole located on the very bottom of the cabinet, which is almost impossible to notice. On the lower shelf, the varnish is slightly scratched and worn in one spot, and in some areas minor surface scratches can be observed. These imperfections are not easily noticeable in everyday use and are clearly shown in the photographs. The price has been adjusted to reflect the condition of the piece. Due to its solid and substantial construction, the piece is relatively heavy; the buyer is kindly asked to ensure appropriate access and delivery conditions at the destination.
