Pair of two-arm Art Deco style candlesticks in woven ceramic, with a fir green rope-like appearance, 1950s. Marked Vallauris. The candlesticks have the appearance of a twisted rope or cord. The molded, raised rope is oval at the base. The round central pieces are knotted, and the candlesticks are made of a flat, pressed cord. The character of the rope, its flat grooved or domed twisted structure, is perfectly rendered in the candlestick. The fir green color, the glossy glaze, and the contrasting black brushwork create a captivating dialogue with the slightly rustic object. Extremely decorative, these highly expressive objects are also very pleasant to the touch.
