Poster "pheasants" 1891

This litography was made of Alfred Weczerzick (1864-1952) for C. C. Meinhold & Söhne, Dresden in 1891. Of course, lithography is an extremely demanding technique - especially at this large scale - that required 15 to 20 manual printing cycles for a single piece because each color had to be applied separately. These colors of course did not have to overlap in the end. This process is what gives lithographs their extraordinary depth and unusual longevity to their colors.
