Set of 4 Thonet Chairs designed by Jacob & Josef Kohn, Model No. 380, 1930s

Exceptional original set of four chairs, model no. 380, originally designed by Jacob & Josef Kohn in 1906. The presented set was produced in Vienna after 1922, following the acquisition of the Kohn company by Thonet, as confirmed by the original Thonet paper labels preserved on each chair. The design combines classic Viennese bentwood construction with a more architectural and modern character associated with the Vienna Secession period. The chairs feature elegantly curved legs and armrests, solid wooden seats, and distinctive panel backrests with vertical pierced cut-outs, a row of circular perforations, and an integrated handhold in the top rail. Such functional and graphic solutions were typically used in high-quality furniture intended for public and institutional interiors. Although the model was originally conceived by Jacob & Josef Kohn in the early 20th century, this set represents a later authentic Thonet production, clearly identified by the preserved labels and factory-burned production numbering (“27”). Original condition with visible, honest patina consistent with age. The construction has been professionally stabilized, and the surfaces have been gently refreshed, preserving the original finish and historical character.
