Camille Leroy, born in 1905 in Paris and died in 1995 in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, was a French painter. He is a listed and valued artist on Artprice. He studied at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, then at the École Nationale des Beaux Arts from 1920 to 1927 (a student of Cormon, Flameng, Lucien Simon). He received the Prize from the General Council, the Grand Artistic Prize of the city of Algiers, and the Gold Medal out of competition from the Society of Orientalist Painters. He served in the military in Algeria in 1925. He received the Abd El Tif Prize in 1937. He then settled permanently in Algiers. He was appointed professor at the École des Beaux Arts in Algiers in 1940. A resistance fighter, like André Hambourg, he joined the Free French Forces and participated in the Tunisia campaign, the Italy campaign, the landing in France, and the Rhine and Danube campaign. He was awarded the Croix de guerre. Immediately after the war, he resumed his activities at the École des Beaux Arts in Algiers. He left Algeria in 1970 and settled in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.
