Here is an authentic ancient moldovan kilim dating from the middle of the twentieth century. Made of wool, woven by hand, it is distinguished, like all carpets in this region, by a dark background, most often black with large floral or vegetable motifs, very colorful. On some pieces, floral and geometric patterns intertwine. Originally, these woven pieces were used as decoration on the walls of wooden houses, hence the difficulty today of finding carpets of small dimensions. In addition to their aesthetic functions, these kilims then provided the function of thermal insulation. They also indicated a sign of wealth. It is now the trendy carpet par excellence!
