Old gelatin-silver photograph published by Broni, depicting the famous Perseus holding the head of Medusa created by Benvenuto Cellini and housed under the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence. The print bears its original caption: “(Ed. Al Broni) 3087. FIRENZE. Loggia dei Lanzi. Perseus showing the head of Medusa: B. Cellini”. This photographic view, taken around 1895-1925, reflects the dissemination of great masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance among travellers and art lovers. The composition highlights the monumentality of the sculpture as well as its architectural surroundings in the heart of Florence. The print is presented under glass in a gilded frame with a cream mount. The ensemble is in good condition with a patina consistent with its age. Frame dimensions: approximately 35 X 30 cm.
