A vintage 'Lunaria' bowl designed by Tapio Wirkkala for Iittala Glassworks in 1972. Marked with the engraved signature 'TAPIO WIRKKALA' on the rim. Iittala model number 3449. An authentic piece of Finnish glass design from the 1970s. Tapio Wirkkala (1915–1985) was a Finnish designer and sculptor, regarded as one of the most famous creators of the post-war era. His work spans a wide range from packaging design and metal objects to glass, advertising graphics, ceramics, jewellery, furniture, and plywood items. In 1946, he created the iconic Kantarelli vase for Iittala. Wirkkala collaborated with many companies such as Venini, Rosenthal, Asco Oy, and others.
