Unique table – antique solid oak top & contemporary base

This table was not manufactured; it was revealed. The top, made from an ancient solid oak monastery table, has a thickness of 6 cm and a density that is now rare. It bears the marks of past use, not as defects, but as the visible memory of a material designed to last. Restored with restraint, it has been protected by a matte finish to preserve its natural touch and appearance, while placing it in a contemporary context. To this heritage, I have deliberately opposed a current design. The base, entirely designed and made by me, asserts a clear contemporary style: black painted steel, Ø18 mm stainless steel rods, taut lines, controlled balance. It does not seek to imitate the past but to offer it a credible extension in the present. With its length of 220 cm, the table accommodates 6 guests, and up to 8 at the ends, without compromising comfort. Its weight of nearly 90 kg reflects the reality of the materials used and the original intention of this piece: to endure, far from standardised productions. This table is a unique piece, born from a restoration gesture and a creative choice. It appeals to those who see furniture not as a mere object, but as a presence in space, capable of engaging with architecture, light, and a way of life.
