An iconic Art Deco table or desk lamp by Claude-Paz & Silva, the "Champignon" model, manufactured in the 1930s, features gilt brass and copper finishes. The model's name refers to its structure, composed of a round chrome base from which three rods (between which the switch is located) extend to support the dome- or mushroom-shaped lampshade. Below, a pressed frosted glass diffuser bears the brand's signature. Claude-Paz & Silva was founded in 1933, resulting from the merger of Claude Lumière and Paz & Silva. The company manufactured household appliances and neon advertising signs. The Art Deco style, which emerged between the two World Wars, is distinguished by the use of straight lines and geometric volumes, influenced by avant-garde movements, mechanization, and archaeological discoveries. It is a purely decorative style, focused on creating attractive and balanced pieces that reflect the society of the time.
