St. Louis Crystal Rhine Wine Glass Model Jersey Paquebot France

St. Louis crystal rhine wine glass (or Roemer). Jersey model in cut crystal. Created in 1956, this model was used in the First Class dining room of the liner France during the first months of operation of the ship. It was then replaced, because of the cost and fragility of the glasses, by a model of the Daum crystalfactory. This service was also offered by General de Gaulle to President Kennedy during his visit to France. Reference: "France, a giant's dream," page 87. Height 18.8 cm. Diameter 7.7 cm. Contenance 15 cl. Emerald green colors. This glass is stamped in the center under the foot St Louis France C.G.T. (Trans-Atlantic General Company). We are therefore sure that this glass travelled aboard the Liner France. Beware, as is often the case with St Louis, some of the stamps are well erased and can only be seen in the print. The glass has been checked to ensure its provenance.
