Spectacular and unique pair of wrought iron wall lights in a half Gothic, half mid-century style. Unique handcrafted pieces from the 1950s featuring a tall conical spire with small relief tiles topped with a rooster. The bobeche is a head of a dog or wolf resembling a gargoyle. The whole piece is made of raw unvarnished wrought iron. The non-standard electrical part has been removed to allow the buyer to choose the style of installation. In good condition. These black metal (cast iron or painted wrought iron) wall lights feature: • A long ribbed conical shade, topped with a silhouette of a bird (rooster or stylised bird). • A base shaped like a plant stem or stylised bird (wings/leaves), with a cup resembling a candlestick. This formal language (elongated cone + simplified animal/vegetal motif) is characteristic of post-war French design, in line with creations from the 1950s-60s (influences similar to Jacques Adnet, art ironwork workshops, or published productions of the time). Height 85 cm → a monumental format typical of these period pieces, often intended for entrances or living rooms. It is neither purely Art Deco (too geometric and luxurious), nor purely rustic/country, nor contemporary minimalist: it is clearly mid-century modern French with an animal motif.
