Quaker chair 365 by lucian ercolani for ercol, 1960. Stamped on the reverse. Note a split on the seat and slight scratches on the backrest, otherwise in very good general condition. Total height 96 cm. Seat height 42 cm. Seated dimensions 41 x43 cm. It was in 1920 that Lucian Ercolani (1888-2010) founded the Ercol furniture company in England, whose reputation grew from year to year. Among the major pieces created by Lucian Ercolani, there is obviously the "butterfly chair" designed in 1958 and the characteristic "quaker chair" model with its high back. In addition to the design, it is the quality of the manufacturing of Ercol furniture that makes its reputation. Like his illustrious predecessors (thonet, fischel, köhn, etc.), lucian r ercolani works with curved wood, shaping it after it has been heated and humidified with steam.
