Large Medici Urn Planter – French Silvered Metal Jardinière

A striking large French Médicis-style planter with a wonderfully grand, classical shape. The rounded bowl sits on a beautiful fluted pedestal, with a wide flared rim and two elegant decorative handles with scrolling leaf motifs. The rich silvered metal has a lovely aged glow, with the kind of worn surface that gives antique French garden pieces their character. The Médicis form has long been associated with grand French gardens and classical interiors, and similar silvered examples are highly decorative collector’s pieces. A substantial statement piece that would look beautiful planted with a large fern, olive tree or trailing greenery, or simply displayed as an impressive decorative urn. It has light signs of age and use, with surface wear, patina and marks throughout, particularly to the upper bowl and inside. There is also a dent to the back, visible in the photographs. The overall shape remains strong and very decorative. Bottle shown in the photographs is not included.
