Selling a magnificent and highly decorative pair of statuettes representing parrots (or cockatoos) perched on rocky tree trunks. These fine porcelain pieces from China date back to the 1950s-1960s and fit perfectly within the Chinoiserie and Hollywood Regency style. They stand out due to the brilliance of their two-tone glazes: an electric and luminous turquoise blue for the bodies of the birds, superbly contrasting with the deep purple/eggplant shades of the relief bases. The sculpted feather work, the delicacy of the whitish legs, and the expressive detail of the eyes add a lot of charm and realism to the whole. The uniqueness of this pair lies in its aesthetic asymmetry: the two birds face each other, making it a stunning symmetrical set to adorn a fireplace, a vintage sideboard, or a bookshelf. There is a marking or incised seal under the base (usually covered by the glaze). Condition: Excellent overall condition. The glossy glaze remains very fresh with beautiful reflections. No major chips, cracks, or restorations to report (see detailed photos). Careful shipping.
