Venini 486a pendant lamp by Paolo Venini for Venini & C., produced on Murano in 1962. The orange glass exterior with white interior creates a warm and atmospheric light. Depending on the light source used, such as a mirrored bulb, the light effect of this mouth-blown lamp changes. Model 486a was manufactured in 1962 by Venini & C. on the Italian island of Murano. The fixture is executed in mouth-blown glass in orange with a white interior and retains its original bakelite socket (E27), suitable for LED, energy-saving, incandescent or halogen bulbs. Dimensions are 11 × 11 × 30 cm (W×D×H); cord length is 140 cm. The lamp comes from the former warehouse stock of the Dutch company Indoor Lampen, which imported Italian design lighting in the 1960s, and is documented in the Indoor Lampen catalogue 1962, page 43 (see photo). The condition of the pendant lamp is very good, with no damage to the glass. The wiring and strain relief have been renewed by an electrician and are safe for use, while the original bakelite socket has been preserved.
