Boch Brothers La Louvière plates

Boch frères la louvière stamped dinner plates. This type of marking the stamp resembles the stamps used on the art deco collections, a period when artists such as charles catteau influenced the decorations and techniques of boch frères (stamp with the stylized sun and the circle inscription typical of boch frères productions between the 1920s and 1940s). Stylized floral decoration: the hand-painted floral motif with bright colors (orange, green and black) recalls the art deco influences, a style very popular in the 1920s and 1930s. Blue rim: a typical detail of many boch frères productions, which brought a touch of elegance and finish to the design. Ivory/cream background: this shade was common for boch frères earthenware, which used a fine and quality paste. Certainly the central decoration is very worn by time but this, in addition to their vintage aspect, gives them a crazy charm. Despite the wear of the decoration these plates made in belgium almost 100 years ago are in beautiful condition. Diameter 18 cms.
