Magnificent half-moon sideboard in blond mahogany forming a secretary.

This mahogany half-moon sideboard is beautifully crafted. In the louis XVI style, its quality is comparable to the work of the faubourg st antoine, where all the cabinetmakers gathered in paris to remake period furniture according to the rules of the art. It dates from the early 20th century, is made of beautiful blond mahogany and offers, in addition to a very pretty scalloped top in carrara marble in perfect condition, a hidden system that allows it to be transformed into an adorable occasional writing desk. Indeed, the first drawer consists of a removable front, fixed by an impeccable metal mechanism. When opened, it reveals an elegant immaculate morocco (leather) top and two small drawers with original pull handles. The whole thing forms like a small theater of precious wood. On each side, a curved door operated by a lock handle opens onto pretty spaces with a fixed shelf in the middle. Finally, the lower central drawer, with its splendid dovetails (drawer assemblies), offers a traditional storage space. The keys and locks are original and fully functional. The marble is surrounded by an openwork brass cornice that echoes the numerous baguettes that finish the interiors of the doors and uprights. They are all present and in very good condition. The fluted feet are themselves set with gilded bronzes (again, complete). Besides the usual wear and tear, this piece of furniture is in quite remarkable condition, worthy of its original quality. An unusual piece which, due to its dimensions, can perfectly find its place in a living room or a bedroom or even a beautiful entrance.
