The thistle

In 2019 I drew a series of close-ups views of flowers as a way to go beyond their often decorative presence and to look at them rather as alive beings. Because I definitely wanted to include in this series an ill-regarded flower, I ended up drawing this thistle. Because I absolutely wanted this series to incorporate an unloved flower, I chose thistle, convinced that its thorns do not prevent it from looking frail and elegant...
