An art déco decanter made in the 1930s at the Józefina Glassworks in Poland, crafted from thick, blown glass in an intense ruby red colour. The spherical, symmetrical body and massive, multi-faceted stopper reflect the geometric traditions of the art déco era. The eye is drawn to the galvanised silver application – a stylised sailing ship with spread sails sailing on stylised waves – a characteristic decorative motif of the period. The surface of the decanter is shiny, smooth and carefully polished, further emphasising the depth of colour and precision of workmanship. It has been preserved in very good condition; only slight traces of patina and minor wear on the silver are visible, natural for an original object nearly a century old. All elements, including the stopper, are from the same period and are authentic. This decanter echoes the voice of urban modernism and the optimism of the 1930s: its ruby glass speaks of the richness of materials valued in the art déco era, which was characterised by a pursuit of luxury and harmonious forms. The motif of the sailing ship, dynamically captured in silvery shine, seems to whisper of dreams of distant journeys and new horizons that illuminated the imagination of 1930s Europe. The smoothness of the glass, the shine of the decoration and the geometric consistency – all this creates an object on the border of decorative and utilitarian art, ready to play a leading role in the home ritual. The decanter is worth displaying on a low sideboard in the living room, preferably in combination with furniture with clean lines and accessories from the 1920s and 1930s, such as chrome trays or mirrors with geometric frames. Its saturated red will contrast perfectly with backgrounds in shades of black, graphite or creamy white, and the presence of the silver application can be highlighted with delicate glass goblets or shiny accents, creating a subtle bridge between past and contemporary arrangements. In a collector's interior, especially inspired by the art déco or new classic style, the decanter can function both as a utilitarian object and as a noble artefact from the era.
