This set of 12 flat plates stamped boch frères la louvière dates back to some of the 1920s. These 100-year-old plates deserve a little history... In 1851, boch frères acquired the manufacture du quai des salines in tournai, belgium, where the "la mouche" decoration under the name "grand bouquet" was produced from 1855. It was charles mouzin (mettlach 1832 - la louvière 1910), son of henri mouzin, who engraved it. The transfer printing technique was used at boch on fine earthenware. The printing was done underglaze, with small differences in the decoration to adapt to the dimensions of each object. On the back, some plates bear the "laurel" grand bouquet stamp, allowing them to be dated to 1920. The oriental-inspired decoration is very pretty and its monochrome blue is typical of the productions of the time. This set will satisfy lovers of old tableware that has a real soul. They are in very good condition for their age, with just a slight wear.
