Beautiful hibachi from the 1920s in the negoro-nuri lacquer technique. Dimensions: height 27 cm, diameter 40 cm. In good, original condition. The stunning color makes this hibachi a striking interior object. Looks very beautiful as a plant stand. The japanese lacquer technique with red lacquer and black stripes is known as "negoro-nuri" (根来塗り). It involves applying multiple layers of red lacquer on a wooden base and adding black stripes or patterns on top. Over time, the black stripes wear away, creating an aged appearance. It is often used on items such as bowls and furniture and holds beautiful aesthetics and historical value. A japanese hibachi is a traditional heating device or firepot used in japan to warm spaces and prepare food. The word "hibachi" is derived from the japanese words "hi" (fire) and "bachi" (bowl), which refers to a bowl with fire. Today, hibachis are still used in traditional japanese homes, but they have also become popular as decorative objects and collectibles due to their historical and artistic value. Many people use them as decorative elements in their interiors.
