This charming little demi-lune commode embodies the delicacy of the Louis XV to Louis XVI Transition style, balancing classical rigor with decorative whimsy. Its top, made of yellow breccia marble, framed by a finely moulded edge, adds a precious mineral touch to the whole piece. This piece of furniture, veneered in mahogany and rosewood, opens with two curved drawers, each adorned with gilded bronze leaf-shaped handles, intricately carved lock entries, and a matching key. The lock is functional, ensuring that the piece is as practical as it is refined. The supports are highlighted by finely crafted bronze mounts, extending the line down to the curved feet, which are finished with voluted bronze sabot. With its harmonious proportions and meticulous decor, this commode will naturally find its place in a classic, romantic, or eclectic interior, serving as either a side piece or a centrepiece. Period: Early 20th century. Excellent condition after restoration in our cabinetmaking workshop. French polish finish.
