Christofle, Alfenide, Paris. Set of 12 table spoons. In silver plated metal. America model. Designed by Luc Lanel, a typical Art Deco model with its cut sides, stepped molding and drawn angles. This model was created in 1933. Hallmark oc for Christofle + Alfenide hallmark. Length: 20.5cm. Weight: 998g. Good condition, scratches from use. Alfenide is an alloy developed in 1850 by the Halphen brothers, French chemists and goldsmiths. The Alfenide factory was bought in 1880 by Christofle. A goldsmith's mark was registered in 1908, with the Alfenide silvering guarantee hallmark. This hallmark features a goat's head in a diamond inscribed in a square, similar to that, diamond-shaped, of the widow Charles Halphen, goldsmith inscribed on March 17, 1877. Compared to silver metal, it has the advantage of being solid and not corroding, of great hardness and of greater longevity.
