Ancient African mask from Ghana, originating from the Ashanti people, and whose characteristics very likely correspond to the large group of Akans. Elongated and harmonious face, with soft and symmetrical features, Eyes half-closed, a sign of self-control, wisdom, and ideal beauty. Inlay (decorative scarifications) on the face, smiling mouth, typical of masks representing idealised forms. The mask is heavy and rare, made of wood inlaid with ivory and enhanced by a sculpted elephant on the headdress. Circa 1950. In perfect condition.
